"Sacred Fantasies"

Rooted in Sacred Fantasies, Narsid‘s art is a vibrant exploration of the human interpretation of the divine. The artist, Darnis Vimonthammawath, created the name Narsid as an anagram of his preferred name, a deliberate act to establish an artistic persona separate from his personal identity. Drawing since childhood, his passion was ignited by the visual storytelling of Dreamworks’ 1998 film, The Prince of Egypt. His work is an eclectic arrangement of archetypal images, each infused with a sense of wonder and reverence for the human soul.

Narsid’s creative output is a rich mosaic of cultural and historical influences. He draws heavily from Persian arts, Abrahamic motifs, Vajrayana Buddhism, and ancient Levantine cultures. His approach to modernity is subtle; he doesn’t incorporate modern elements directly, but instead addresses timeless human issues like fragility and inner struggle. His color palette leans toward the primary colors found in ancient art, while floral patterns and complex ornaments derived from Persian miniature paintings are core to his visual language.

A powerful demonstration of his vision and self-reliance, Narsid’s proudest moment is his solo exhibition, hosted entirely without sponsorship or backing. This accomplishment proves his belief that there is a path for art that exists outside of a commercial context. He envisions a future where his intricate style can be applied on a grand scale, with a dream of becoming an art director for a fantasy video game or a theater play.
